Medical Director: Mike Pauszek
Dr. Mike Pauszek has served as the PA Program’s Medical Director since 2014 and his dedication to our students has well surpassed his job description. During this time, he has not only provided mentoring and early clinical experience to hundreds of students during their didactic semesters, he also provides on-campus board review lectures at the end of every rotation to experiential year students.
Since his initial affiliation with Butler’s PA program in 2003, Dr. Pauszek has been an unwavering supporter, personally serving as a preceptor to hundreds of students in Emergency Medicine. One of the many positive comments taken from site evaluations, which underscores his passion for PA education, “Dr. Pauszek not only loves medicine, but he loves teaching medicine. He has the unique ability to give enough responsibility to challenge us while also making us feel confident in our abilities as provider. I’ve never felt like a burden, but rather feel encouraged and enthusiastically welcomed to learn alongside him.”
Dr. Pauszek’s support of our students and the PA profession extends well beyond the lecture hall and clinical site. He regularly goes out of his way to help find our graduates jobs that are “best fits” and has even been successful in creating positions for PAs in practices that had never entertained hiring a PA. His passion and perseverance for PA education and practice simply cannot be matched and we, at the Butler PA Program, are privileged to have him as a part of our program.
Dr. Pauszek lives in Franklin, Indiana with his wife Suzanne. When not hard at work, he enjoys gardening and raising goats and chickens, and has a donkey named Nester at his rural family cabin/barn that he built himself.
Dr. Pauszek received his medical degree from Indiana University and is board certified in Internal Medicine. He practiced Emergency Medicine at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Franklin, IN for the last 27 years and now practices at Major Health Partners/Hospital, Shelbyville, IN as a Hospitalist. In May 2018, Dr. Pauszek received the Butler University PA Program's Preceptor of the Year award.
