Selective Internal Admission Pathway
Over the past few years there have been some modifications to the admission pathways offered for the Butler University PA Program. One of the most notable is that the Program no longer offers the Direct Admit Pathway for those applying as first year students to Butler University. A new admission pathway, the Selective Internal Admission Pathway, has been created.
The Selective Internal Admission Pathway is designed for Butler University alumni and those soon to graduate of any major who would like to pursue a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree. Yes, this means that a music or business major who has completed all course prerequisites and taken the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) can apply! Students who major in Health Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, and other science related majors will always be welcomed too.
Starting this year, all soon to be graduating students or alumni who are interested in applying via the Selective Internal Pathway can do so through the Central Application System for Physician Assistants (CASPA). The application process opens each year in late April and is due by August 1, for admission the following May. Up to 60 percent of the seats in each cohort will be reserved for the Selective Internal Admission Pathway.
All applicants to the Butler University PA Program who apply though either the Selective Internal or the Standard Admission Pathways will be considered in the same manner. The PA Admission Committee desires to establish a cohort of individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences who have demonstrated excellence in leadership, service, or scholarship. All applicants should also exhibit effective written and verbal communication skills.
If you know a great alumni or current student, encourage them to contact our Assistant Director of PA Admission & Student Services, Erin Cochard, if they have questions at PAadmission@butler.edu.
