The Assessment side of OIRA supports the University’s various evaluation needs to ensure students continue to receive an excellent Butler education. Through our data-driven measurement efforts with student learning assessment, program reviews, and preparations for HLC accreditation site visits, teaching and learning processes are constantly refined, enhanced, and adjusted to meet the needs of today’s students.

University Assessment Committee

The UAC fosters ongoing quality improvement efforts across campus by facilitating the annual assessment cycle. 

Student Learning Outcomes

Butler’s University Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) are the skills, knowledge, and abilities students should gain as a result of a Butler University education.

Annual Assessment Reports

Annual Assessment Reports are due December 31 every year.


Butler University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, and several of our academic programs have specialized discipline-specific accreditations.



Mini-Grants for Assessment

Mini-Grants are available for departments/programs that wish to improve their assessment approaches in meaningful ways that can better help inform future curricular changes.
