Violin Day at Butler University

Butler University Violin Day will be Saturday, September 30, 2017 in the Schrott Center for the Arts!  Violin Day is free and open to violinists in 8th through 12th grade. Parents, teachers and colleagues of participating students are also welcome to attend. Registered violin student participants will receive complimentary lunch in the campus dining hall. The event will be hosted by Professor Larry Shapiro, professor of violin at Butler University along with Professor Richard Auldon Clark, director of the Butler Symphony Orchestra, and Dr. Lisa Brooks, professor of violin, as well as current Butler students and alumni.

Schedule (subject to change)

All activities will take place in the Schrott Center for the Arts unless otherwise noted.

9:00 AM Registration
9:30 AM Opening recital
10:15 AM Q & A with Butler violin students
10:30 AM Break
10:45 AM Technique class
12:00-1:00 PM Lunch in Atherton Union; provided to registered students**
1:15 PM Master class
2:15 PM Break
2:30 PM Rehearsal
3:45 PM Break
4:00 PM Panel discussion with Butler faculty
4:30-5:00 PM Closing concert

**Lunch is provided to all registered violin student participants (8th-12th grade). Parents and colleagues may purchase lunch in Atherton Union if desired.

 

Additional sessions may be offered if participation allows.
