Dean's Scholarships

As part of the partnership between Butler University and Music for All, the Butler University School of Music is pleased to offer current high school juniors who participate in the Music for All National Festival in March 2020, to audition for a Dean's Scholarship. Scholarships will be half to full tuition!

This scholarship opportunity is available to students who are current high school juniors (for the 2019-20 academic year) and intend to enroll at Butler University in fall 2021 as a music major.

How to Apply

  1. Submit the Dean's Scholarship Application (online application) and accompanying required materials, which include:
    • Video recording of a prepared piece or recent solo performance. Acceptable formats include: .mp4, .wmv, or .mov files, YouTube/DropBox/SoundCloud link, or a mailed DVD. Audio-only recordings, including CDs are not acceptable.
    • Letter of recommendation from music teacher (private lessons teacher is preferred)
    • Current high school transcript

Application and materials deadline: February 21, 2020 at 5:00 PM (EST)

How it Works

After all applications and supporting materials have been reviewed, 3–5 finalists will be selected to audition live during the Music for All National Festival. The School of Music office will coordinate the specific audition dates and times with each finalist based on their individual Festival schedule. Award recipients will be announced during the Festival. The Dean's Scholarships are non-binding; however, the University will request written acceptance of each award.

Next Steps for Award Recipients

Award recipients must complete their Butler University application by the Early Action Deadline of November 1, 2020 and declare Music as their primary major. A live audition will be required for admittance into the School of Music.
