Publications and Editorial Training
Butler’s MFA Creative Writing program is host to an online and print literary magazine, Booth. After only three years, Booth had already been praised as “one of the most exciting, fresh, and irreverent new journals out there” (Aja Gabel). Contributors include Kim Addonizio, Robin Black, Jonathan Lethem, and Michael Martone, and interviews with Jonathan Franzen, George Saunders, and Charles Simic. Booth offers opportunities for MFAs to help curate and edit content, and to interview visiting writers for potential publication. We also offer MFA students a course in literary publishing, as well as multiple internship opportunities related to all publishing projects.
Booth Books is the book publishing division of the literary magazine Booth. Formerly known as Pressgang, Booth Books seeks to further establish its auspicious reputation for publishing cutting-edge collections of fiction, nonfiction, comics, and poetry.
Published works include Einstein’s Beach House, a book of short stories by Jacob Appel, and Flashed, an anthology of linked flash fiction in comics and prose by 45 star cartoonists and fiction writers. Edited by Josh Neufeld and Sari Wilson, Flashed features work by Junot Diaz, Lynda Barry, Steve Almond, Aimee Bender, and more.
