Items from Special Collections and the Rare Books Room may be viewed but must&nbsp;stay in their designated space.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Books are shelved by the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/catdir\/cpso\/lcco\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Library of Congress Classification<\/a>&nbsp;and the call numbers and location information are shown in&nbsp;EDS.&nbsp;Irwin and Education items can be mapped to show where the item is in the library.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Overview of where items can be found:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Irwin Library\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Browsing: First Floor, north of the fountain (near the vending machines)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compact Shelving (Low Level) &#8211; Books, Journals, and Multi-Volume sets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>General Stacks: Second Floor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reference Collection (dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc.) &#8211; Along the windows in front of the library instruction lab (in the computer area).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Music Reference Collection: Lower Level<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thesis Collection \u2013 Special Collections (ask for&nbsp;assistance&nbsp;in the department).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Special Collections, Rare Books, and University Archives\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All specialized and named collections are accessed through the department in&nbsp;Irwin,&nbsp;room 345. Please&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.butler.edu\/SpecialCollections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">contact the department<\/a>&nbsp;to access materials and please see&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.butler.edu\/library\/spaces\/service-guidelines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the guidelines<\/a>&nbsp;for information on accessing materials in Special Collections.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Science Library\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The library is located in LFH 200. Butler ID is necessary to gain access to the collection. The library is open 24\/7 and a self-checkout machine is available.    <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Education Resource Library&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The library is&nbsp;located&nbsp;on South Campus.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.butler.edu\/www\/sites\/18\/2021\/12\/08104236\/edreslibrarylayout.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Shelving layout map<\/a>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-media-collection\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Media Collection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Irwin Library has a collection of DVDs, CDs, VHS, Microfilm, and Musical Scores in the lower level or basement of the library.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CDs and DVDs may be checked out at the Information Commons Desk on the first floor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The microfilm collection is in storage cabinets on the lower level, and there is a digital microfilm reader connected to a computer workstation on the first floor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vinyl records are held in the lower level of Irwin\u00a0Library\u00a0and there is a record player connected to a computer workstation in the basement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Irwin Library\u2019s collections to support Music are located in the NW quad of the Lower Level and contains reference books and scores, CDs, performance and study scores, and books on music.&nbsp;Reference books and scores may be viewed at the library but not checked out. Refer to the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/libguides.butler.edu\/c.php?g=34241&amp;p=217948\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Music Basics&nbsp;LibGuide<\/a>&nbsp;for tips on finding scores. (This collection is
