Graduate a step ahead.
Butler University's Lacy School of Business equips its graduates with the skills and knowledge to sharpen their competitive edge.
In the Lacy School of Business, we believe that academic rigor is most effective when paired with lessons from the real world. You'll be immersed in actual business settings from your first days on campus. You won't just be prepared for success. By the time you graduate, you'll have already achieved it.
Choose from 8 of our business majors, all of which are equipped to help students graduate a step ahead.

The First-Year Business Experience
In this class, you'll explore the dimensions that make you an individual, and discover more about yourself. You are introduced to business concepts and see those concepts in action with real companies. At the end of the semester, you'll join a team and participate in the Top Dawg Business Plan Competition, where you'll be tasked with developing a business idea, writing a business plan, and then presenting your work.
The Real Business Experience
In just one semester, you'll form teams, create a business idea, and start and run your real business. The class is facilitated by faculty and professional mentors who have impressive professional experience. Each team is assigned a mentor to help guide the business to new levels. At the end of the semester, you'll gain valuable experience with unique credentials like Chief Executive Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, and more.
Career Development Program
Throughout your time at Butler, you are guided through a structured, four-year career development program where you'll receive support from a personal career mentor and the Butler alumni network. Your personal career mentor assists you in locating required internships, which often result in full-time employment upon graduation. You'll follow the Butler Blueprint as you progress through the career development program, which includes a variety of activities and requirements such as job fairs, mock interviews, resume writing, workshops, and more.
Career Mentors
Every Lacy student is assigned a career mentor who stays with them for all four years of college, and often beyond. Mentors are experienced, high-level professionals who offer personal, substantive career advice and provide networking opportunities.
Be a Practitioner
The Lacy School not only requires that every business student have two internships; we also help you secure them. All of our students start a business in their second year, and experiential opportunities are incorporated into business courses every semester.
