These former executives worked at companies such as Cummins, Anthem, Roche, and IBM and have significant professional business experience. Career mentors help students discover career paths and interests\u2014and how to structure their time at Butler to meet their goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-in-the-words-of-a-career-mentor\">In the Words of a Career Mentor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While teaching career skills, we teach life skills. Authenticity, persistence, resilience, gratitude, and the power of human connection. The payoff for our students is more than a job, it\u2019s the path to a fulfilling life.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014Randy Brown, formerly Chief HR Officer, WellPoint (Anthem)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Giving students the motivation and opportunity to explore and create themselves during their college years is a joy. Ed started his business career in sales and marketing with Cummins Inc, Columbus IN. in 1964, and had been Vice President-Marketing for Cummins Crosspoint in Indianapolis since All the way through his undergraduate Integrated Science (ISP) and Mathematics double major at Northwestern, he worked with and around computers, landing a Systems Analyst role at Eli Lilly and Company right out of school. After six years at Lilly, he and his family took a brief side trip to Evansville, Indiana at the corporate offices of Shoe Carnival to help them out of a technical mess before returning to Indianapolis as a Systems Consultant with C\/Soft (Haverstick) for a few years.<\/p>\n<p>Teaching himself networking online and acquiring multiple Cisco networking certifications (CCNP, CCDP), Chad then jumped to a Network Engineer and Data and Networking Department Manager job at Communications Products where he enjoyed projects in telecommunications, networking and security for almost seven years. His first stint at Butler was coming on to join the IT team as a network engineer in 2006. After a few team lead roles in IT, he became the Director of Systems and Infrastructure in 2012 and then moved to Senior Director of Technology Development in 2014. In 2017, after working on a joint project, Chad left Butler to join Butler Business Consulting Group client MJ Insurance as their first Chief Information Officer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After guiding a complete technology restoration, and adapting MJ to remote work during the pandemic of 2020, he left after four years for a career change, completing a Masters&#8217; degree in Educational Psychology and becoming an adjunct professor. Also serve as Executive and Finance Committee member.<\/p><p>Originally from Indianapolis and have lived and worked in Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati and South Bend\/Elkhart, Indiana. He is a retired corporate executive with over 30 years of leadership and managment experperience. His managment experience began in Austin, Texas,with the oversight and responsibility in the leading of a career services department. His accountability expanded to a full site level in San Antonio, Texas to include career services, marketing, finance, and academics. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Barry&#8217;s operational experience with a national educatonal organization evolved into a regional position that included locations in Missouri, Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia. Eventually his role was at a national level as a Senior Vice President of Operations, with responsibilty for providing corporate vision, stategic planning, employee recruitment and engagement, succession planning, budgeting, and risk managment. Accoutability of goals and objectives were a major component of Barry&#8217;s responsibilty.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Barry earned both a Bachelor and Masters degree in Education from Southern Illinois University, where he served as a teaching assistant while completing his graduate studies.
