An audition is required for all ensembles except University Marching Band and University Basketball Band. Upon acceptance into the ensemble, students register for the 100-level as first-years and sophomores, the 300-level as juniors and seniors, and the 500-level for graduate students; all ensembles are 1-credit registrations. Awards are based upon musicianship as demonstrated during the audition, academic record, and ensemble needs in the School of Music.&nbsp;Continued eligibility for Ensemble Participation Scholarships requires registration in the appropriate ensemble and secondary-level applied music lessons as outlined in the scholarship offer (cannot be taken P\/F or for non-credit). &nbsp;A \u201cB\u201d or higher is required for both ensemble and lessons to remain in good standing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligible ensembles include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Butler Symphony Orchestra<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Butler University Wind Ensemble<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>University Chorale<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>University Choir<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jazz Ensemble (for Jazz auditioners only)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-eps-audition-process\">EPS Audition Process<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Record your audition and upload to a file sharing service such as YouTube, GoogleDrive, Dropbox, etc. Audition requirements are as follows:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Vocalists:&nbsp;<\/strong>solo repertoire of your choice OR \u201cAmerica the Beautiful\u201d.&nbsp;Piano accompaniment is preferred; you may use an accompaniment track.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Instrumentalists:<\/strong>&nbsp;solo repertoire of your choice.&nbsp;<strong>Percussionists<\/strong>&nbsp;should prepare a solo piece of repertoire on a mallet instrument as well as demonstrate at least two scales on mallets. If possible, please also demonstrate a sampling of snare rudiments (you may use a snare practice pad for this).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Submit the audition recording link\u00a0<\/strong>to JCAadmissions@butler.edu with subject line: &#8220;EPS audition: YOUR NAME, INSTRUMENT<strong>&#8220;.
