In 2015 he completed his Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) with a minor in psychology from Lipscomb University. In 2018. Dr. Carey completed his Masters of Science in Nursing Education (MSN Ed.) from Middle Tennessee State University. Additionally, in 2023 Dr. Carey completed his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Western Kentucky University.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Carey&#8217;s nursing career has allowed him to practice in various clinical settings including pediatrics, adult medicine, neuro, spine, kidney\/liver transplant, hematology, oncology, bone marrow transplant, geriatrics, and geriatric psych. In 2016, Dr. Carey began teaching nursing students in the clinical setting and in 2018 became full-time in nursing education. His experience in education emphasizes the connection of clinical, classroom, and simulation. He has held previous leadership experience as a program coordinator and Associate Dean of Nursing. Dr. Carey has taught a wide array of courses including: pathophysiology, pharmacology, adult health, pediatrics, leadership, NCLEX prep, and preceptorship.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Carey is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, National League for Nurses (NLN), Indiana Nurses Association, American Nurses Association (ANA), a BLS instructor, BLS\/ACLS certified, and biotherapy\/chemotherapy certified. Additionally, he is a board member of the Indiana Nurses Foundation and a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE). He was a recipient of the daisy award in 2019, which recognizes exceptional nurses in the field.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, Dr. Carey joined Butler University as the Founding Nursing Program Director. After a lengthy career as a photographer Mark completed an Associates Degree in Nursing from Ivy Tech Community College in May of 2014.&nbsp; His first job as an RN was in the Progressive Care Unit at Indiana University Health Arnett in Lafayette, IN.&nbsp; Mark completed his Bachelor\u2019s of Science Degree in Nursing at Western Governor\u2019s University in June 2016, his Master\u2019s Degree in Nursing Education at Western Governor\u2019s in December 2016 and his Doctor of Education Degree from Capella University in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Mark began his nursing education career by returning to his alma mater of Ivy Tech where he taught Pharmacology and Medical\/Surgical Nursing.&nbsp; She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Indiana University and her Master of Science in Nursing Education (MSN) from Western Governors University. She has 2 decades of bedside experience at Riley Hospital for Children, focusing on children born with congenital heart defects. She also gained acute care experience with adult patients at IU Methodist Hospital.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tanya is a Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) and Certified Breastfeeding Counselor (CBC). She is BLS, ALS, and PALS certified.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prior to coming to Butler, Tanya served as a Nurse Educator at Riley Hospital supporting new nurses in orientation and nursing staff in professional development. She was also a Faculty Lecturer at Indiana University School of Nursing- Indianapolis. Her areas of focus have been pediatrics, nursing professionalism, and interprofessional collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>Tanya is a mother of 2 children and 4 rescue animals. In her free time, Tanya enjoys teaching group exercise classes at local fitness centers along with her husband. Her experience caring for patients with complex and often life-threatening diagnoses has shaped her commitment to compassionate, evidence-based nursing practice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University. Drawing on her clinical experience, Sarah is passionate about helping prepare the next generation of nurses to develop strong clinical judgment, confidence, compassion, and a commitment to lifelong learning. She particularly values creating meaningful connections between classroom learning and the realities of patient care.<\/p>\n<p>A &nbsp;lifelong Indiana resident, Sarah lives in Butler-Tarkington with her husband and their three daughters. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Purdue University (2015) and later completed Purdue\u2019s BSN\u2013DNP program (2019). Her clinical background includes extensive experience in cardiac surgery and heart failure, and she has practiced as a cardiac nurse practitioner for six years in both inpatient and outpatient settings. During her doctoral education, she taught clinical courses for Purdue University and Huntington University, where she discovered a deep passion for educating and mentoring the next generation of nurses.
