This equates to 12 three-hour courses. With flexible pacing and a variety of electives, students can take the time they need and tailor the program to fit their needs.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students should plan to take all coursework in person on our Indianapolis campus and should plan to reside nearby for at least two years. Six credit hours of thesis work are completed over two semesters. Editorial positions are awarded with a partial tuition waiver, which varies by position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"h-writing-in-the-schools\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:40px\">Writing in the Schools<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Vonnegut Youth Writing Internships:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of an ongoing partnership between Butler MFA\u2019s Writing in the Schools Program, Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS), and the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library (KVML), students can apply for a paid internship that will place them as writing tutors within four IPS high school writing centers (Arsenal Tech, Crispus Attucks, George Washington, and Shortridge). These interns will support high school students with a variety of writing tasks\u2014from academic papers to college application essays\u2014 and will also help to establish an after-school creative writing club at the respective high school they are assigned to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both current and incoming MFAs are eligible for this opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"h-teaching-fellows\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:40px\">Teaching Fellows<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Funded directly by the MFA program, fellows shadow and assist instructors teaching undergraduate core courses, most likely First Year Seminar. Applicants who are otherwise qualified will be informed of the policy and encouraged to reapply in a future term when space is available.
