Butler ID Information and FAQ's
Your Butler University ID allows you to access buildings, purchase meals, use a copy machine, and much more. Your Butler ID should be kept on your person at all times, and should never be given to anyone. If you lose your Butler ID, please contact the Butler University Police Department at 317-940-9396 immediately. You can receive a new Butler ID during normal business hours from Parking Services located in the Sunset Avenue Garage, or after hours from BUPD dispatch located at 525 West Hampton Drive. If you believe your Butler ID is not working properly please use the FAQ's below.
You can use your Butler ID to do the following:
- Access Campus Buildings (including the parking garage)
- Access classrooms, meeting spaces, and offices that are electronically equipped for card access
- Use the HRC
- Use campus printers and copy machines
- Check out materials from Irwin Library
- Purchase food and beverages from campus dining
- Attend a BCR event
Students will receive their Butler ID during their campus orientation in August or January.
Faculty/Staff can receieve their Butler ID after their orientation date with Human Resources by visiting Parking Services in the Sunset Avenue Garage Suite 500.
If you lost your ID during normal business hours (8am-4:30pm M-F), please visit Parking Services located in the Sunset Avenue Garage Suite 500. If it is after normal business hours, you may visit BUPD dispatch located at 525 West Hampton Drive. Please note the Office of Parking Services is closed from 12-1 daily for lunch.
If your Butler ID is not working to access campus buildings, classrooms, offices or meetings spaces, please submit a Facilities work order. If your Butler ID is not working for any other function, please submit an IT Help Desk ticket.
Your Butler ID can be used to access the HRC, enjoy campus dining, and check out materials from the Library via the Butler App. All other functions require your physical ID.
If your Butler ID is not working to operate a door, please submit a Facilities work order. If you are requesting access to a new room or building, please ensure you have gone through your appropiate department contact for authorization.
Faculty/Staff can request access to rooms and buildings in addition to the "standard faculty/staff" access with authorization from their dean, department head, or director as well as the department responsible for the building.
Students must request access in addition to "Standard Student Access" through a faculty advisor, faculty sponsor, co-curricular advisor, or other faculty/staff member with an advisory role to them.
