In addition to attending existing events, students, staff, faculty, and alumni are encouraged to host their own program that reflects the spirit and purpose of Founder&#8217;s Week. Programs can be for your student organization, department, or the entire campus and beyond. Programs can be educational, social, creative, or reflective and may align with the year\u2019s theme. This is a great way to showcase your department, organization, or class while contributing to a campus-wide celebration. Examples include but are not limited to coffee and conversation, banner-making, networking mixer, movie night, speaker event, or a photo display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more ideas, check out our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.butler.edu\/diversity-equity-inclusion\/founders-celebration\/2024-events\/\">2024 Events<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please know that hosts are responsible for planning and facilitating the program. Events must take place during Founder&#8217;s Week. <strong>Please email foundersweek@butler.edu for guidance and best practices, and to have your program included in the Founder&#8217;s Week marketing.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-submit-a-founder-s-week-award-nomination\"><em>Submit a Founder&#8217;s Week Award Nomination<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h-founder-s-week-awards\">Established in 2022, the Founder\u2019s Week Awards recognize members of the Butler community for their continuous efforts that advance our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.butler.edu\/mission-statement\/\">Founding Mission<\/a>&nbsp;of creating access and inclusivity for all members of the Butler campus. Recipients are acknowledged for their DEI initiatives\u2019 positive impact on campus and the broader community, ability to go above and beyond their role associated with Butler, and demonstration of innovation and creativity in their DEI work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Ovid Butler Founder\u2019s Award<\/strong>\u2014this award is bestowed upon a community partner (individual or organization) whose work and contributions embody Butler University\u2019s values of excellence, collaboration, and equity. Those awarded are recognized for their ability to go beyond and expectations of a community partner as they work to benefit Butler and the broader community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Butler DEI Champion Awards<\/strong>\u2014these awards recognize a Butler University program, individual, and practice that exemplify our commitment to the aspirations outlined in our DEI statement and contribute meaningfully to advancing the University\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A&nbsp;<strong>PERSON<\/strong>&nbsp;who consistently demonstrates a commitment to Butler\u2019s founding mission through their University service to students, faculty, and\/or staff.&nbsp; Through their active engagement, they strengthen Butler\u2019s community with innovation and care.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A&nbsp;<strong>PRACTICE<\/strong>&nbsp;that actualizes the Butler mission and is utilized to intentionally uphold efforts to be a university where everyone is&nbsp;valued, inspired, respected, and able to flourish. Examples of practices include but are not limited to process or policy improvements, curriculum updates, expanding student support, or creating transparent processes. Practices should seek to minimize barriers, inequities, or injustices to members of the Butler community.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A&nbsp;<strong>PROGRAM<\/strong>, such as a special event or initiative (new, improved, or existing), that advances the Butler mission by promoting a welcoming and inclusive campus environment through creative approaches to engagement, learning, and\/or community support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2026-nomination-information\">2026 Nomination Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Members of the Butler community can submit nominations for the 2026 Founder\u2019s Week Awards program from Monday, October 6th, to Friday, November 14th, using the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/butler.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_3eko13Bt5Zo2XVY\">online nomination form<\/a>. Nominators may submit more than one nomination in any category. Nominations will be reviewed by a committee of Butler students, staff, faculty, and alumni.
