Polly’s initial training began at Classical Ballet Conservatory in Utah. At age 12, she was asked to join Utah Regional Ballet under the artistic direction of Jacqueline P. College. During her years with URB, Polly had the opportunity to perform as a soloist for many Regional Dance America galas. She was awarded Dance Magazine’s sponsored scholarship to Craft and Choreography at the Pacific Regional Dance America Festival as well as scholarships to study with Pacific Northwest Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and Ballet West.
As a high school senior, Polly danced as a youth artist in Brigham Young University’s Theatre Ballet under the direction of Janalyn Memmott. While with BYU Youth Artists she was the Dance Sterling Scholar runner up for the state of Utah. Polly was the recipient of the Willam Christensen scholarship to the University of Utah Department of Dance where she trained under Conrad Ludlow, Bene Arnold, Attila Ficzere, Rick Wacko, Maureen Laird, Sharee Lane, and Deborah Dobson. Polly graduated with a BFA in Ballet Performance and MFA focused on ways the university could better prepare students for a professional career. During her time at the University of Utah she was a member of Utah Ballet and Character Dance Ensemble, which provided her with the incredible experience of both training and performing with many companies including Ballet West, Alonzo King’s Lines, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet and Ballet Folklorico.
Polly went on to dance professionally with Charleston Ballet Theatre, Anaheim Ballet Theatre, Bay Area Dancers, American Folk Ballet, Tuacahn Amphitheatre, and Disneyland Entertainment. She also performed as a guest artist for several regional companies across North America and Asia. Some of her favorite roles have included: Diana (Diane and Acteon), Blue Bird (Snow White), Sing, Sing, Sing (Fosse), Gulnar (Le Corsair), Concerto Barocco Soloist (Balanchine) and performing as a featured act for the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games.
Polly served as Ballet Mistress to Utah Ballet and taught non major ballet classes (1999-2002). She was Assistant Director for the Youth Artist program at Brigham Young University (2000), and was Director of Ballet for Tiffany's Dance Academy Livermore, CA (2006-2008). In 2009 Polly opened Contemporary Dance Academy in Fort Collins, CO with her philosophy of guiding and inspiring dancers to discover their own stories and harness the magic they have within.
Most recently Polly received her ABT teacher certification and joined the staff of the Butler University Dance Department.
