Dr. Ayres is a graduate of Ball State University (undergraduate) and the University of Tennessee (Ph.D.).  Prior to his academic career, Dr. Ayres was a senior manager at Somerset CPAs in Indianapolis, Indiana and has over ten years of professional experience.  Dr. Ayres first served as an audit manager in this role, transitioning later into business valuation and litigation consulting.  Dr. Ayres is a licensed CPA in the state of Indiana and has experience as an expert witness.  Dr. Ayres' teaching interests include auditing, managerial and cost accounting, financial statement analysis, business valuation, and financial accounting.  Dr. Ayres' research interests include archival auditing and archival capital markets / financial accounting.  Dr. Ayres has published in Contemporary Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Advances in Accounting, the Journal of Accounting Education, the Journal of Accountancy, and the CPA Journal.
