Dr. Andy Schmelz graduated from Purdue University with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2008. He subsequently completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in academia and ambulatory care, also with Purdue University. Later, he practiced as a staff pharmacist with Walgreens and as an ambulatory pharmacist with IU Health and Community Health Network. He has focused on assessment and reporting of metrics and quality measures for clinical programs in all his prior positions. Regardless of practice setting or institution, Andy has been deeply involved in teaching, with an emphasis in experiential teaching of learners across disciplines. He was also key in the development of pharmacy residency programs in both community pharmacy and in ambulatory care. He currently practices as an ambulatory care pharmacist at Eskenazi Health Center Westside, a federally-qualified health center serving the most vulnerable populations of Marion County.
