Individual and Couple Counseling
We understand that college can bring many changes to students' lives and can be filled with experiences for which students may need extra support. Individuals and couples can work with a counselor to explore their concerns and work toward a better understanding and resolution of their difficulties. It is our goal to assist individuals in identifying problems, developing alternatives, making decisions, and helping them pursue their plan of action.
The reasons students seek help from counselors are as varied as the people themselves. Some of the common reasons students seek counseling include the following:
- Relationship concerns
- Adjustment to college life and loneliness
- Understanding one's sexual/gender identity
- Eating and body image concerns
- Anger management
- Stress management and coping skills
- Sexual assault/trauma
- Alcohol and substance use
In addition to providing individual counseling for students, CCS offers couples counseling for students who are dealing with issues in their relationship with their significant other. A couple can be married, single, GLBTQ, roommates, or housemates. As long as both partners are Butler University students, the couple can be seen at CCS for couples counseling.
