#GotMyShot Campaign

Butler has joined the #GotMyShot campaign, a coalition started by Eli Lilly and Company in partnership with the City of Indianapolis, Marion County Public Health Department, Indiana State Department of Health, community organizations, and local businesses to collectively address the myths, build trust by sharing the facts about vaccinations, and ensure everyone has equal access to the COVID-19 vaccine. Data show that the vaccines are having a profound impact on mitigating the spread of COVID-19 across our country.

For those who haven’t yet decided if they will receive the vaccine, here are a few facts that may help inform your decision.

  • COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. Millions of people in the United States have received COVID-19 vaccines under the most intense safety monitoring in U.S. history.
  • There was no bypassing or relaxing of the normal scientific process for vaccine development. The vaccines were tested by all three phases of scientifically rigorous clinical trials, which have shown no major safety concerns.
  • You may have some side effects, which are normal signs that your body is building protection. These side effects may affect your ability to do daily activities, but they should go away in a few days. Some people have no side effects
  • It is not possible for the vaccine to change your DNA. It does not interact with your DNA in any way.
  • The vaccine cannot give you COVID-19. There is no live virus in the vaccine.
  • There’s no evidence that the vaccine causes infertility in women or has increased risks for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
  • Current guidelines suggest that anyone previously infected with COVID-19 should be vaccinated. Those who have been vaccinated after having COVID-19 have observed a strong immune reaction after the first of the two shots with the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
  • Everyone can receive the vaccine free of charge, even if you don’t have insurance. The best way to register in Indiana is at www.ourshot.in.gov or visit Vaccines.gov to find vaccine providers near you.
