White Coat Ceremony
On Friday, August 24, the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences hosted its 18th annual White Coat Ceremony. This year, the College welcomed 77 PA students and 131 P1 Pharmacy students into the first year of their professional programs and into their respective professional communities.
Speakers for the White Coat Ceremony included Monica Throckmorton, a 1990 graduate of Butler's Pharmacy program and Director of Pharmacy Operations and Account Management at Cardinal Health, and Greg Fox, Pharmacy Department Merchandiser for the Central Division of Kroger. Kroger was the sponsor of the White Coat Ceremony.
Chris Roman, Interim Program Direct and Department Chair, Masters in Physician Assistant Studies and President of the Indiana Academy of Physician Assistants, read the Oath of a PA to the PA class. Randy Hitchens, Executive Director of the Indiana Pharmacists Alliance recited Oath of a Pharmacist to the P1 class.
The White Coat Ceremony carries the symbolism of past accomplishments, entry into the professional program, and support from the faculty and families. Since 2000, almost 3,000 Butler Pharmacy and PA students have received their first white coat through donations from parents, alumni, faculty, staff professional partners, and friends of the college.
Congratulations to the PA Class of 2020 and the Pharmacy Class of 2022.
