Butler Business Consulting Group

For Students

We'll Give You The Experience You Want.

The Butler Business Consulting Group allows undergraduate students to immerse themselves in business and learn through hands-on experience. The Consulting Group was created through the generosity of the Lilly Endowment Inc. and strives to create an environment where students, professors, and professional consultants can work together to solve real business problems, providing an unparalleled educational experience.

Positions as consulting analysts in areas such as marketing, finance, and business operations are available to students with a junior standing or higher. As a consulting analyst, you will work directly with a Consulting Group project manager to complete client deliverables, advance Consulting Group strategic goals, and create value for clients. We’re looking for students who demonstrate a desire for broad business process understanding, strong ethical behavior, and a concern for the ethical and successful outcomes of each project.

Student analysts focused on marketing projects will be given opportunities to analyze current and historic sales trends, examine client marketing strategies, conduct interviews with clients, and do market and industry research.

Student analysts focused on finance projects will be able to help define performance goals and metrics for client solutions, assist in building and documenting a quantitative business case for change, and more.

From Our Interns

Working at the Butler Business Consulting Group refined my technical ‘hard’ skills and my personal ‘soft’ skills. As a marketing analyst, I gained exposure to a diverse range of marketing projects including research, strategy, promotion and sales. Supporting multiple projects, I developed time and project management skills that have made me more organized and focused while working. I am grateful for the independence, responsibility, flexibility and teaching that I was given throughout the semester. All in all, the exposure I received from the Project Managers and clients, along with the diversity of work is unmatched for any other three month internship program.

My experience with the Consulting Group has started an incredible professional career transition for my future beyond Butler. I have learned the importance of working with multiple groups to deliver value and to communicate with purpose. The small working environment of the Consulting Group creates great opportunities for relationship building and further connectivity with Butler and Indianapolis. For someone who entered the internship program with immense Butler spirit, I am now a proud alumnus of the program who sees immense value in its efforts and its presence in the local community.
