Students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds will be valued and included equitably in our college, will flourish in their respective roles, will continue life-long intercultural development, and will be empowered to act in support of diversity, inclusion, equity, and intercultural development.<\/p><p>Our vision has three key areas of focus:<\/p><ol class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li>Culture and Intercultural Orientation<\/li> <li>Community<\/li> <li>Student Access and Success<\/li><\/ol><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Definitions<\/h3><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li>Diversity is the range of human differences, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, social class, physical ability or attributes, religious or ethical values system, national origin, and political beliefs.<\/li> <li>Inclusion is involvement and empowerment, where the inherent worth and dignity of all people are recognized. An inclusive college promotes and sustains a sense of belonging; it values and practices respect for the talents, beliefs, backgrounds, and ways of living of its members.<\/li> <li>Equity refers to achieving parity in student educational outcomes, regardless of background and identity.<\/li> <li>Intercultural Development is learning focused on providing the capability to shift cultural perspective and appropriately adapt behavior to cultural differences and commonalities.<\/li><\/ul><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Area 1: Culture and Intercultural Orientation<\/h3><p>Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and board members each play key roles in creating a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and intercultural development in CCOM and interact in positive partnership.
