Organizational Communication & Leadership

One major—unlimited possibilities. In today’s world, preparation, experience, and options make all the difference. Whatever your trajectory in life you’ll need the skills to intelligently, strategically, and intentionally express yourself if you want to challenge and change the world we live in. The Organizational Communication & Leadership program blends innovative courses with opportunities for local, national, and international real-world experiences.

Every great leader is a great communicator. Our students design their own paths to professional greatness in a dynamic, technologically centered, and global society. They graduate prepared to lead corporate or nonprofit organizations or continue on to post-graduate studies—truly unlimited possibilities.

Hands on experience—through one or more internships—provides students with real-world experience that translates to a variety of professional networking opportunities. What better way to learn from corporate and nonprofit leaders than working side-by-side on innovative and valuable communication projects and strategies.

Listening to what others have to say is just part of the learning process. You’ll be inspired to find and express your own voice gained from hands-on classroom experience and the opportunity to travel abroad gaining international perspective through leadership-based study.

You decide. All of the majors within the College of Communication have a focus on gaining organizational, relational, and leadership expertise. The Organizational Communication & Leadership major blends innovative courses with opportunities for real-world, global experiences that create one-of-a-kind learning paths, even with our three year degree option. It is what leaders do.

Whether your passion lies in the corporate or nonprofit world, in post-graduate studies, or a commitment to a life of service—you’ll have the skills to effectively build and maintain relationships and communicate with organizational stakeholders ethically—leveraging innovation wisely and leading with excellence.

Great leaders know that it all starts with a great communication foundation. It is how relationships grow and strengthen. The Speaker’s Lab assists students with the creation and delivery of both individual and group speeches or presentations. The lab can help students:

  • Refine a topic
  • Organize research
  • Effectively present a speech
  • Review and provide feedback of finished presentations

The lab is a place where students can improve upon weaknesses and leverage and explore strengths—a learning community where leaders truly flourish.
