How Can I Help?
As a friend or family member, you want to make sure that your student succeeds inside and outside the classroom. This is where Career and Professional Success (CaPS) comes in. We help students prepare for a successful postgraduate career while they're still in school.
At the beginning of the year, CaPS recommends that friends and family help their students create a to-do list that will help them organize their personal goals. This will help students regardless of how close they are to graduation. The list that CaPS suggests is:
- Exploration: Your student can discover more about their strengths by doing personal assessments. Combined with individualized career counseling, these will help your student choose a major and career.
- Preparation: Your student can fine-tune their resume, cover letter, interviewing skills and much more by making sure that everything is in place to begin the inevitable job search or other post-graduation experience.
- Engagement: Your student can benefit from events like Networking Night and the Internship and Career Prep Program (ICPP) that are hosted by CAPS annually. These events give students the opportunity to network with employers from all industries.
Following this to-do list helps students find success! If you have questions, please feel free to email the CaPS office or call our general desk at 317-940-9383.
Our office supports the Career and Life Skills dimension of BU Be Well.
We help students and alumni focus on building and maintaining successful skills for future or current careers, including internships, employment, financial planning, graduate school, and gap year/service programs.
