WHERE LEADERS ARE BUILT

My time at Butler really connected me to the correct people that I needed to know to help me in my career.

My name is Trevor Fox. I am a 2026 graduate of Butler University, and I am now the Butler Institute for Sports Entertainment Coordinator.

Butler has helped me tremendously in my career journey. Coming into school, I didn’t know what I wanted to do and wanted to be in the sports and entertainment industry and help students get those experiences that I got. Butler led me in that direction.

When I tell people about Butler, I go back to my experience when I was actually touring campus as a high school student. What really sold me was when I met with these professors and they took me into the classroom, showed me what the class sizes were like, showed me what the relationships with the professors would be.

It’s very people-oriented. It’s got so many cool opportunities. It’s very experiential-based, especially with what we’re trying to do with the Butler Institute for Sports Entertainment. We’re trying to provide hands-on experiences for these students, which has led me into my career.

My name is Audrey Eckleberger, and next year I’m going to Columbia University for a master’s in psychology.

I came into Butler not really knowing what I wanted to do. I just kind of knew I liked psychology a little bit, so I wasn’t really looking for research or anything.

But then my professors were so welcoming and encouraging of joining research that I ended up joining my sophomore year. And so I’ve been able to have three years of research experience in two different research labs, as well as a summer of independent research through the Butler Summer Institute. I’m just so grateful that they encouraged me to go for it so early on.

Something that I’ve really discovered about myself since being at Butler is that I really value a strong support system. Just being able to lean on people has been so incredible, and I know that I’m going to continue doing that throughout the rest of my life.

And I will always remember just being able to walk down the street and just see, like, 50 people that you know within, like, 10 feet. The community being so intertwined and connected because everyone’s just so involved and passionate about what they do.

I would say that Butler is going to give you so many more opportunities than you can even fathom coming in. Having it be a smaller school where you have all these relationships with your professors that you’ll build, and relationships with your peers, having those smaller class sizes and everything, it makes such a difference.

Butler students are so involved, and I think that there are so many ways that you can pursue your passions and that everyone here wants to see that happen for you.

The biggest thing that Butler helped me with for preparing for my future career is the career readiness aspect in the Lacy School of Business with their career mentors.

My name is John Cunningham, and I am going to be starting my new role as a tax associate with Forvis Mazars.

I think being at Butler, being so far away from my original hometown, which is in Portland, Oregon, it really pushed me to have to find a new community on my own.

Being so tight-knit with this campus, I was able to find people that I had common interests with, and it gave me the confidence to just break out of my shell, show myself more.

The thing that really influenced my time was the opportunity to study abroad in Japan. It had been a lifelong goal of mine, and having the opportunity to go with a group of 10 other Butler students to just explore the country and also work an internship really was, like, a holistic experience that I think really changed me in the latter half of my Butler career.

I feel like everybody, like, wants to get to know you here at Butler, and that’s awesome.

My name is Elizabeth Miller, and after graduation I’ll be starting as a finance associate at Eli Lilly.

Butler helps a lot. First off, Lilly being here in Indianapolis, I’ve got a lot of connections with Butler alumni. I got to talk to professors that had a lot of industry experience too. So I was very fortunate in that realm, or even the on-campus career events, like getting to hear their perspective.

I think that helped a lot, and I also tell all my peers I loved the two internship requirements in the business school. Butler built a lot of confidence in my skill set.

I was stretched a lot into, like, stepping into leadership positions. I think because the classes are smaller, or, like, my athletic teams, or, like, stepping up to be, like, a tutor, or pushing myself a little bit more outside of my comfort zone is definitely what I would say Butler pushed me in that realm.

I love coming to Dugan. Between those 15 minutes between classes, like, everybody’s hanging out, they’re getting their Butler Brew, their coffee, and, like, laughing and having fun and, like, being themselves.

I would give a lot of advice to think about where would you be the happiest? Where would you be the best version of yourself? And I think Butler pushes people to do that here.

Do you like the smaller class size? Do you want to be able to, like, do different things that maybe you wouldn’t be able to do at a bigger school, but still get, like, that big-school feel here? Like basketball games, going to different sporting events?

Just enjoy the process. I feel like the four years go by really fast. Go to basketball games, have fun with friends. Looking back, I’m like, those were the little moments that meant a lot.
