Daily Crime Log and Fire Log
The crime logs posted here contain incident reports on file with the Butler University Police Department (BUPD). If an incident is not reported to BUPD it will not be listed here. The BUPD patrol area is consists of 42nd Street to 52nd Street, Michigan Road to Graceland Ave. (including the campus of the Christian Theological Seminary). Incident reports originating outside the BUPD patrol area (University Police Service District) will be listed as "Information - Referred to another agency" in the crime log. A corresponding incident report will be generated by BUPD on the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's report management system (RMS) indicating the proper UCR Classification.
BUPD maintains a Daily Crime Log that is available to the public upon request. A crime must be entered into the log within two business days of when it was reported to University Police or a Campus Security Authority (CSA). The Daily Crime Log can be viewed at the University Police Department, 525 W. Hampton Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana during regular business hours.
According to Federal Clery Law, an institution may withhold any of the required fields of entry, i.e. the nature, date, time, location and/or disposition if any of the following conditions apply:
- Prohibited by law;
- Jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim;
- Jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or the safety of an individual;
- Cause a suspect to flee or evade detection; and
- Result in the destruction of evidence.
