Bicycling at Butler University
Riding a bike is one of the best ways to get around campus. A relaxed bike ride to your campus destination is often quicker than using a car and offers a unique opportunity to experience the beauty and architecture of the Butler campus. If you choose to bike, and we hope you do, please remember that your bike is a vehicle. Just like a motorist, it's your responsibility to learn and obey the rules that apply to you as a cyclist.
Registration is FREE
If you plan to park your bicycle on campus, university regulations require that you register and display a valid bicycle permit. A bicycle can be a major investment, so be sure to protect it by registering with Butler University Police Department as soon as possible. Registration aids in the recovery of lost or stolen bicycles, and can even help with accident victim identification.
How to Register Your Bicycle
Applications for bicycles registration are free and can be picked up in person at the University Police Department, located at 525 W. Hampton Drive, or Online Bicycle Registration Form.
You will need all of your bicycle's identifying information:
- Make, model, year, speed, color, and any other identifying marks
- Serial Number (most important)
Receive your Decal
Once you're completed the form, please bring the form and your bicycle to the University Police Department to complete the registration process. An officer will confirm you've included all the information about your bicycle, to include the serial number and then issue you a decal that is to remain on your bicycle as long as you're here at Butler University.
Please contact the University Police Department at 317-940-9396, option 1, if you have any questions.
