New Student Learning Outcomes
The Faculty Senate recently endorsed a new set of Student Learning Outcomes. This action was the culmination of two years’ worth of work, originally launched at the Fall Academic Workshop in August, 2014.
The goal of this work was to reduce the number of SLOs from the previous 12 to a smaller set of more manageable SLOs. This helps ensure our assessment processes are meaningful, simple, and effective.
The former SLOs described a set of skills we hoped our graduates would develop during their time at Butler. Our four new SLOs describe the kind of person we hope graduates from Butler University.
Provost Kate Morris feels this is an important and powerful change that gives testament to Butler’s emphasis on developing the whole person. She would like to thank all who were involved in this effort, especially Priscilla Arling, Chris Bungard, Amia Foston, Elizabeth Mix, Laurie Pylitt, Diane Timmerman, and Tom Paradis.
