Art 401, 402, 403, Independent Study

The purpose of independent study is to pursue a specialized topic or advance knowledge and skills in a particular medium beyond that addressed in Art Program courses. Students may take independent study 1, 2 or 3 credits.  Each credit hour represents 40 hours of work over the course of a semester. In an independent study you meet regularly with an Art Program professor, who will guide you through the study of your chosen topic.

Examples of Independent Study Topics

Consult with the professor you would like to work with and complete the required paperwork, which must be approved by both the professor and the program director.
