About Me:

Hey everyone, I am Cathryn. I am going into my 5th year of pharmacy at Butler University. I am also working toward a minor in Science, Technology & Society! In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with friends and writing. I've been working on NaNoWriMo and am hoping to be published at some point in the near future as well. Most of the time you can catch me studying in the library or browsing the Internet. Oh, and did I mention that I got married last summer?

Napolese!

PAWS had a great end of the year celebration dinner at Napolese! It was sooo good. It’s right by campus, too, off of 49th and Pennsylvania–in fact, it’s connected to Cafe Patachou! We got prime seating in Patachou, actually, which is great because with such a big group, it can be hard to hear sometimes.

Napolese buys ingredients from local spots, including the Butler Campus farm! It’s so cool! We were curious what parts of the pizzas we got were from the farm, but I guess the mystery is part of the fun. The food was EXCELLENT and so. was. dessert.

NUTELLA PIZZA. Sorry there’s a creepy blue filter over the picture. I got a new camera app on my phone and I have no idea what I’m doing. ;)

PAWS had such a great year, and I had so much fun being a leader in that group! I learned a lot and now peer education and overall wellness will always have special places in my heart. :)

A million reasons why PAWS is awesome

Reasons 1-999,999: Sarah Barnes Diaz!

Sarah nabbed this year’s Woman of Distinction award, given in honor of Women’s History Month!

Sarah is such an outstanding member of the Butler community. Not only is she the adviser for PAWS, but she also gives talks at Greek houses, heads the Victim Advocate Program, and is always available in her office with open ears!

Did I mention she teaches a peer education class too?!

Sarah’s not the only one winning awards, either. We attended the BACCHUS Area 7 Conference and took home the award for this year’s best peer education group!

We had so much fun at the conference! We learned a lot about other school’s peer education programs, got to meet peer educators from Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky, AND we got to visit Baldwin-Wallace College. :)

Don’t forget that this semester’s Stress Less Week is coming up in TWO WEEKS. I’ll post the schedule when it’s all settled!!

The Return of the Blog

So so so excited to be back!! HI INTERNET.

Well, I better fill everybody in on my life, since I had a few changes since we last saw each other.

First of all, the Hot Box in Fishers won’t deliver to my apartment. In Fishers. What a racket.

Oh, also, I got married. :)

Running down the aisle to "Born to Run."

We’ll discuss that more later!

Curtis and I moved to Fishers in June! So I’ve been in Indy all summer. I wanted to see the sites more, but I really only managed to see the insides of about 5 Marsh pharmacies. So it goes.

We have a lovely lakeview at our apartment! More about THAT later too!

Let’s just be real here: this blog post is just the table of contents for multiple future blog posts.

Today is Friday, which means I just completed my first week of school (if you can even call it that, considering we just started Wednesday)! I hope new readers and old have had a good week. I’m having trouble realizing it’s Friday, though–I’ve been working a lot of weekends, and I’ll actually be coming down to campus Saturday night for the New Student Bonfire! It should be a good time down on the intramural fields, eating free food and playing glow in the dark games. I’m bringing Curtis. He’s pretty entertaining!

Red Cup Culture just finished its last presentations last night. I hope everyone who saw a presentation enjoyed it!! Let me know what you think via email or comments!

Goodness, so much to talk about. Maybe I should quit while I’m ahead!

They’ve mixed vegetables into fruit juice. Science.

(My titles will rarely make sense or tie into my entries. DEAL.)

My roommates and me, leaving a PAWS meeting Monday night:

Ashley: It smells like fall!

Me: YOU smell like fall.

Ashley: Your MOM smells like fall.

Me: YOUR FACE smells like fall.

Random guy walking toward us: I smell like fall! I just went to a bonfire!

I love you, random guy going to the HRC.

No, but for real, I’ve been drinking Ocean Spray Fruits & Vegetable juice all week. According to the blurb on their website, I’ve probably had 4 servings of fruits and vegetables today. That’s more fruits and vegetables than I’ve had in my ENTIRE LIFE (exaggeration).

As for what I’ve been up to, it’s pretty much been a whole bunch of nothing. Yesterday in compounding lab, I survived the breaking of the ampule without cutting myself or flinging the glass piece across the room. The latter happened last week, although it hit the edge of the trashcan and fell in out of sheer luck. Compounding lab has gotten considerably more dangerous in the past couple of weeks. A little while ago, we had to be careful not to stab ourselves with the needle while trying to insert it into an IV.

So I made a new discovery on Facebook (via CuteOverload) and his name is BOO and he’s a pomeranian. LOOK AT HIM.

I want him! He has 40,000 fans on Facebook too. He’s pretty much famous.

That’s all I’ve got for tonight. Tomorrow is sleep-in day! … but if I’m good, I’ll get up and go to Starbucks and the library. :/ Yeeeah right.
