First Days on the Butler Campus

Bulldog Life

Bulldog Life

Make Your Next Four Years Your Best Four Years.

Ask students at Butler, and they’ll tell you that life here is full of constant excitement and possibility. The reason that life at Butler is so different is that students and faculty are invested in the community that they shape and that shapes them in return.

If you’re interested in Greek life, you’ll be among friends. Nearly 35% of students here join one of five fraternities or seven sororities. If not, you’ll still have plenty to keep you busy. Cheering on athletic teams, taking on a leadership role in a student organization, joining an intramural sport, or just hanging out with friends are just a few of the ways that students stay involved with the community.

Living On Campus

The University has begun construction on a new, state-of-the-art, 600-bed student-housing facility, scheduled to open in fall 2016. The residence hall will feature a media lounge, outdoor kitchen and fire pit area, a fitness center, and more. Paired with our other campus living options, you'll find all the comforts of home here.

With over 150 student organizations on campus, there’s something for everyone. From academics to performing arts, you’re sure to find just the right fit for your interests. And if you don't find the organization you're looking for, we'll help you start a new one.

Life is in Session

Arts & Culture

There’s a whole world of art to discover at Butler, like at Clowes Memorial Hall—the second-largest performing arts venue in the city of Indianapolis, located right on campus. Come see the Broadway shows, standup comedians, art exhibits, or a keynote speech by a Nobel Prize winner. The roster always has something to enlighten your mind.

Athletics & Recreation

From cheering on the Dawgs as they compete in the BIG EAST Conference to joining an intramural or club sport team to fitting in a quick workout between classes, athletics and recreation are a big part of our campus life.

Meet Trip

Get to know campus through the eyes of our mascot. Butler Blue 3 (affectionately known as “Trip”) comes to work every day and has a social circle of over 13,000 Twitter and 8,000 Instagram followers. Want in? Belly rubs accepted.

Campus Dining

It’s hard to miss “home cooking” when you have it right here at Butler. Grab a bite with friends at one of Butler’s many dining locations, like the C-Club or the Marketplace, or re-fuel at Starbucks. You can choose the meal plan that works best with your schedule. You’ll find a variety of fresh-made foods and snacks to keep you powering through the day.
