Assistance Fund<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>The Butler Emergency Assistance Fund was created to provide gift assistance to students with a short-term, unforeseen financial hardship or immediate expense that may impact their academic success at Butler University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples of Financial Hardships Considered<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Unexpected medical and dental expenses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Housing and living costs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transportation needs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Family\/personal emergencies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Natural disasters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Theft<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Credit card debt and other non-emergent matters may not be considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: Students with&nbsp;non-emergent financial hardships that do not qualify for the Butler Emergency Assistance Fund, including student account balances, are encouraged to contact the&nbsp;Office of Financial Aid&nbsp;directly to discuss their situation and talk about possible&nbsp;aid options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-eligibility\">Eligibility<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To be eligible, students must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be in good standing with the University.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be enrolled and attending classes in a degree-seeking program at Butler University.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete the Emergency Assistance Fund Application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-guidelines-amp-processes\">Guidelines &amp; Processes<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students may receive the funds only once per semester.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Funds approved are generally between $100\u2013$1500.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The funds do not need to be repaid; however, they may be subject to federal taxes. &nbsp;Please consult with your tax preparer or accountant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Office of Financial Aid will review the application and will consider the student\u2019s financial aid file to ensure that all financial aid eligibility is being utilized.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applications will be reviewed during normal business hours. Please allow up to two business days for a response.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Funds are paid based on the type of request and urgency of the hardship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-applying-for-the-funds\">Applying for the Funds<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a title=\"Butler Emergency Assistance Fund Application\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdUNpyZ42f9aHJEK63mg21SkKdClZC_nfqYBvZWCqvKFwxjRQ\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apply here<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applications will be accepted as long as funding is available.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Documentation may be required&nbsp;and should be submitted to the Office of Financial aid by email (<a href=\"mailto:financialaiddocs@butler.edu\">financialaiddocs@butler.edu<\/a>), fax (317-940-8250), or in the office (Robertson Hall, lower level).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each application is carefully reviewed to ensure all other financial aid resources are maximized first.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-funds-made-possible-by\">Funds Made Possible By:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Ayres Student Assistance Fund, which was established to assist students who experience financial crisis during the school year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Annual gifts designated to support this program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>If you are interested in supporting the Butler Emergency Assistance Fund through a charitable donation, please contact the Office of Annual Giving at 317-940-9469 or <a href=\"mailto:gifts@butler.edu\">gifts@butler.edu<\/a>.
