institutional data.\u00a0 Our mission is \u201cto foster a data-driven culture and facilitate strategic planning and decision-making by providing accurate, relevant, and unbiased data; offering higher education research expertise and statistical consulting services; and improving teaching and learning by assisting academic departments with program reviews and other assessment efforts.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As our name implies, OIRA\u2019s primary services can be categorized into institutional research and assessment.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><div class=\"butler-accordion-container wp-block-butler-accordion-container\" data-allow-multiple=\"false\" style=\"--butler-accordion-title-bg-hover: ;\">\n\n<div class=\"butler-accordion-item wp-block-butler-accordion-item\">\n\t<div class=\"butler-accordion-header\">\n\t\t<h2 class=\"butler-accordion-title wp-block-butler-accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t<button class=\"butler-accordion-toggle\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\tWhat institutional research services does OIRA offer? \t\t\t\t<span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Open<\/span>\n\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t<\/h2>\n\t<\/div>\n\t<div class=\"butler-accordion-item-content\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reporting Institutional Data<\/h5><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As your go-to source for official Butler University data, OIRA routinely provides information about students, faculty, and other general Butler facts.\u202fMany questions about enrollment, retention, and degrees awarded can be answered by our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.butler.edu\/academics\/institutional-research\/information-request-form\/#:~:text=found%20in%20our-,Fact%20Book,-and%20Common%20Data\">Fact Book<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.butler.edu\/academics\/institutional-research\/about-institutional-research\/common-data-set\/\">Common Data Set<\/a> (CDS).\u00a0 However, if you cannot find the data you need, see the next section.\u00a0<\/p><h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Completing Custom Data Requests and Analysis<\/h5><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the standard external reporting of institutional data, OIRA also fields several requests for particular data and\/or analytics needs.\u00a0 Please submit a request form if you are looking for institutional data unavailable in the University Factbook or CDS.\u00a0<\/p><h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Providing Survey Consultation and Administration<\/h5><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OIRA also provides survey-related services, including consultation and survey administration.\u00a0 We work with our colleagues across campus to help meet their survey needs.\u00a0 Requests range from providing feedback on a draft survey instrument to helping design and administer the final survey.\u00a0 OIRA can also assist with the analysis of survey results if needed.\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please contact us wp-block-butler-accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t<button class=\"butler-accordion-toggle\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\tWhat assessment services does OIRA offer? \t\t\t\t<span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Open<\/span>\n\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t<\/h2>\n\t<\/div>\n\t<div class=\"butler-accordion-item-content\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Coordinating Annual Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes<\/h5><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OIRA coordinates the annual assessment reporting of all academic and co-curricular units.\u00a0 Assessment reports are currently due on March 31.\u00a0 The Director of OIRA also chairs the University Assessment Committee, comprised of representatives from each college and co-curricular units with student learning outcomes.\u00a0<\/p><h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supporting Academic Program Reviews<\/h5><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several of Butler\u2019s colleges maintain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.butler.edu\/academics\/institutional-research\/assessment\/accreditation\/\">specialized accreditations<\/a> for the programs they offer.\u00a0 However, university programs without specialized accreditation must complete academic program reviews on a seven-year cycle.\u00a0 OIRA maintains a program review calendar in consultation with College Deans or their designees.\u00a0 As departments prepare for their upcoming reviews, OIRA provides each department with a multi-year statistical overview.\u00a0 This overview provides trend data on faculty staffing levels, teaching credit hours, number of majors, student credit hours, GPA by class level, first-to-second year retention, number of degrees conferred, and graduation rates.\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once program review processes end, OIRA also serves as the repository for crucial program review documents (i.e., departmental self-study, external reviewer\u2019s report, action plans).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Facilitating Student Feedback on Teaching\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/h5><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OIRA also helps facilitate the administration of campus-wide course evaluations each academic term.\u00a0 We work with representatives from each college and the Core and Honors programs to confirm which courses need to receive surveys.\u00a0 Next, we set up and schedule end-of-course surveys in the Class Climate system, and finally, we prepare faculty reports at the end of each term for dissemination.\u00a0<\/p>\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"butler-accordion-item wp-block-butler-accordion-item\">\n\t<div class=\"butler-accordion-header\">\n\t\t<h2 class=\"butler-accordion-title wp-block-butler-accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t<button class=\"butler-accordion-toggle\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\tWhat role does OIRA play with the Higher Learning Commission?  \t\t\t\t<span addition to institutional research and assessment services, the Director of OIRA also interacts periodically with our regional accreditor.\u00a0 Butler University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).\u00a0 The Director of OIRA currently serves as the accreditation liaison officer for Butler.\u00a0 In this role, the director (along with colleagues in the Division of Professional Studies) communicates and collaborates with the HLC to ensure they are notified and have accurate, up-to-date curricular documentation for all of our new programs and any significant changes to any
