Butler Blue IV, or “Blue,” was born on October 30, 2019, at Fall Creek Place Animal Clinic, delivered by Dr. Kurt Phillips ’92 by way of breeders Jodi and Cameron Madaj. Blue is a male AKC-Registered English Bulldog. He sports a fawn and white coat and can be easily identified by a marking above his right eyebrow.

The arrival of Butler Blue IV also ushers in a new page to the Butler Blue Live Mascot program, as Blue will be under the care of a new handler, Evan Krauss ’16, and his wife, Kennedy. Michael Kaltenmark ’02 and his wife, Tiffany, will relinquish full-time handler duties after 16 years. Evan has trained under Michael and Butler Blue III aka “Trip,” for the past six years since his sophomore year at Butler.

Butler Blue IV was introduced to the world on January 22, 2020, and will attend his first Butler Men’s Basketball game on Friday, January 24.

Blue will train as the official mascot-in-training of Butler with Evan, under Michael and Butler Blue III, until the end of the 2020 academic year. At that time, the collar (and leash) will be passed on to the next chapter of the Butler Blue Live Mascot Program.
