New Opportunities
The Volunteer Center will be heading to the White River State
Park on Earth Day, Saturday, April 28th for a day of fun and giving
back to the earth! We need 20 volunteers to assist from
10:30am-2:30pm to help prepare for a major festival to promote
environmental protection, conservation of natural resources, and
sustainable living possible! Volunteers will meet at the Volunteer
Center at AU 100 at 10:30am. Transportation will be provided by the
Volunteer Center! If you are interested, please sign up outside our

B.U.R.N, an on campus organization will be hosting a sale of
items at the beginning of the next academic year where all earnings
will be donated to the Wheeler Mission. Any leftover items from the
sale will be donated to the Wheeler Mission Thrift Store. Nothing
will be thrown away and this is all for charity! In order to
prepare for the big donation, B.U.R.N. needs your gently used
clothing, furniture, and other items. From Monday, April 28th until
Thursday, May 10th between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm feel free
to bring gently used items to collection PODS, which will look like
large plastic trash receptacles but will be marked, which will
be stationed at Schwitzer, Ross, and the Apartment Village.
Additionally a truck pick-up will be organized on Thursday May 10th
for all off-campus housing and all Greek Life houses upon request
from 8:00-10:00 am or from 3:10- 5:00 pm. If you have any questions

Are you interested in expanding your Butler network while giving
back to the community? Join the Volunteer Center on Saturday, April
28th from 10:00am to 2:00pm when we will be volunteering at the
Butler Campus Farm with 15 Butler Alumni! This is a priceless
opportunity to meet interesting people, volunteer close to Butler,
and have a great time. A picnic lunch will be provided to all
participants. If you are interested in volunteering, sign up

Easter Seals Crossroads Rehabilitation Center is offering an
outstanding volunteer opportunity for interested individuals.
PeerXChange is a program that pairs college students with an autism
spectrum disorder together with a mentor. PeerXChange is in need of
student leaders to act as such mentors. The primary responsibility
of volunteers will be to mentor another college student who is
classified as being on the Autism Spectrum once a week. The mentors
will be helping these students connect with campus resources,
develop time management skills, assist with transitioning to the
college environment, getting involved in social activities, and
serving as a resource and friend. Easter Seals is looking for
students who are dedicated and motivated to be a positive role
model in the lives of other students. Please contact Amy Miller

Indiana Campus Compact (ICC) is partnering with Taylor
University to host an event called addressing rural community
needs, which is an alternative break experience for Indiana college
students from May 21-26, 2012. The experience will provide students
with the opportunity to learn about rural poverty, connect with
students from throughout the state, and gain tools and information
that students can use to develop alternative breaks. Indiana Campus
Compact's Statewide Alternative Break program deadline has been
extended to Wednesday, April 25, 2012, so interested individuals
should consider submitting an application and apply today! Check

Old Opportunities
Over 40,000 attendees are expected at the stop by throughout the
day at PBS's annual Kids in the Park event, and they are in need of
200 local volunteers to ensure the event runs smoothly. The event
this year will be held at Military Park on Saturday, June 9. Three
shifts of volunteers will be set up: Friday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm
for setup, Saturday from 9:00am to 1:00pm for shift 1, and Saturday
12:30pm to 5:00pm for shift 2. Volunteers can assist for as many
shifts as they please. Volunteer tasks include selling merchandise,
supervising the bounce house, assisting at Kinetico water stations,
tear down, being a PBS character, being a PBS character handler,
assisting the staff with entertainment, and evaluating the stage
performances. A box lunch will be provided to those who volunteer

The Boys and Girls Club is looking for mentors to volunteer once
a week with 1-3 students between the ages of 6 and 12. Mentors will
help students with reading, math, and other academic areas of
concern. In addition, mentors will spend time with Club members
forming a relationship. A short training session will be provided
for volunteers before mentorship begins. For further information or
