Mission: Westminster Neighborhood Ministries
reaches out to serve the families and children in the growing
inner-city area of Indianapolis's Near Eastside.
Our programming
builds on three core principles:
Provide for needs, support, and educate.
Provide needed services to all members of the family. Support our
neighborhood by developing partnerships with other local resources.
Teach families and children to become more self-sustaining.
Volunteer
Opportunities:
We offer short
term, long term, and special event opportunities for service. We
happily accept individuals or student groups who are willing to
serve.
Long term:
Education program-
Be a mentor to a child in our K-8 after school program. Once a
week commitment during the school year. Each volunteer is assigned
to work one-on-one with one of our student participants.
Short term/ One time Support:
Food Pantry --
Help unload food donations for our food pantry. The third Tuesday
of every month between 8-2 p.m.
Soup Kitchen --
Need 3-4 people to help with our weekly feeding program every
Thursday morning. The program runs from 830-1130 a.m. Volunteers
help serve meals, plate desserts, and clean up after meal.
When does this agency need volunteers?
We take volunteers on a rolling basis. Our organization is open
Monday-Friday. Our children/education programs occur everyday. Our
adult services (including our feeding program, food pantry, and
clothing closet) run every Thursday morning. The adult services
also needs help throughout the week with stocking, organizing, or
unloading donation deliveries.
