CUE Monitoring Projects

Monarch Watch
Monarch Watch ( www.monarchwatch.com ) is an educational
and outreach organization based at the University of Kansas.
Hundreds of millions of monarch butterflies east of the Rocky
Mountains migrate from the United States to overwintering areas in
Mexico annually. The CUE has worked to establish two Monarch
Waystations here on campus. Monarchs are netted at these
waystations and fitted with marked, light weight tags to help
monitor their migration paths. Data collected for this project is
sent to the Monarch Watch database and thus contributes to monarch
conservation efforts.
