2014 URC Arrival, Check-in, Tours, and Schedule

We are all looking forward to seeing you at the 26th annual Butler University Undergraduate Research Conference on April 11, 2014. Here is some information to make your arrival and check-in easy.


All students should review the online schedule to check their individual presentation times. A bug in the system resulted in some changes, especially in the Psychology and Pharmacy/Exercise Science areas. Everyone, regardless of area, should check the online version to be sure of her/his individual schedule. Keep in mind that these are 15-minute presentation slots for oral presentations.

We will have security outside guiding you to the appropriate locations. There is ample parking available. Parking will first be available in the Irwin Library lot (marked beside #1 on the attached map). When that lots fills up, you will be directed to the lot by Lilly and Clowes Halls (#4 on your map). Overflow parking will finally be directed to Hinkle Fieldhouse (marked with the parking symbol by 49th street on the map).


Conference check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. in Irwin Library (#1 on your map). Pre-paid guests and registered Butler students, faculty, and staff will have received a registration QR code via e-mail during the week of April 7th. If you have that code (either printed or on an electronic device), you will be quickly scanned in upon arrival at Irwin. If you have forgotten to bring the QR code with you, we can still check you in quickly. Guests who still need to pay will be directed to the reference desks, where our volunteers will be happy to assist you. Registered guests who selected a t-shirt option can pick up their shirts during the check-in process. You will also receive a name tag. Light breakfast (while supplies last-arrive early), poster session #1, and the art exhibition will all be available in the library that morning.

Conference Etiquette for Oral Presentations:

Please arrive before your session begins, so that you can be sure there are no technological issues. If you are giving a second presentation and need to leave early, please inform your room moderator before the session begins.

Bring your presentation on a flashdrive, or have it accessible via Prezi or another internet-based source.


7:30-9:30 a.m. Conference Check-in, Irwin Library. Light breakfast available while supplies last.  Note: For attendees who elect to only attend in the afternoon, you will still be able to check in at the Irwin Library thru 1:00 p.m.

8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Art Exhibition, Irwin Library Collaborative Learning Space.

8:30-9:30 a.m. Poster Session 1, Irwin Library. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Biology and Sustainability, Chemistry, Exercise Science & Human Performance, Pharmacy & Health Sciences, Physics. Signs in the library will direct you to each area.

8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Concurrent Oral Presentation Sessions. Visit for the most up-to-date information.

11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Box Lunches Available in Reilly Room, Atherton Union. (Lunches are for registered participants only, please!) Note to Poster Session 2 Participants:  we recommend securing your box lunch before your poster session at noon!

12:15-12:30 p.m. Welcoming address, Dr. Kathryn Morris, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Reilly Room, Atherton Union.

12:00-1:00 p.m. Poster Session 2, Irwin Library. Anthropology, Business & Economics, Education, GWSS, History, International Studies, Math & Computer Science, Music, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology. Signs in the library will direct you to each area. Note to Poster Session 2 Participants: You may set up your posters anytime after 10:00 a.m.  Additionally, we recommend securing your box lunch before your poster session at noon!

12:00-1:00 p.m. Small-group tours of campus environmental facilities. Sign-ups are available online at We will also have printed sign-ups available at check-in.
