Barry Hohlfelder '66

Barry HolfelderBarry G. Hohlfelder worked 43 years as a television producer, director, writer, and reporter, primarily for NBC network news, for NBC-owned WMAQ and CBS-owned WBBM in Chicago, and for the New York City station WNBC. He retired in January 2008 after nearly 37 years with NBC-Universal. He produced special projects for Jane Pauley and sports and feature segments for Greg Gumbel. Hohlfelder is a two-time Emmy Award winner and recipient of the Peter Lisagor Award from the Chicago Headline Club.

While earning his radio-television degree at Butler, he was news director of WAJC-FM and earned Butler's first internship with Crosley Broadcasting. The vice president of the Butler Alumni Association Board of Directors, he chairs the Jordan College of the Arts Board of Visitors.

In his hometown of Libertyville, Ill., Hohlfelder has served on the board of directors of The Brainerd Community Center, and as member care co-coordinator for St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. He is a certified foster guardian with the As Good as Gold - Golden Retriever Rescue organization.
