Student Profile
Matt Rozek
Although he enjoyed his experience as a theatre major, Matt Rozek wanted
to use his time abroad to broaden his academic experience. “I wanted
to get away from theatre for a semester and study film,” he says.
At the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, he found the
classes he was looking for.
“I took a Japanese film class, and Australian film class, a history
documentary class and a class on performance in the independent american
cinema,” he
says. He found the experience to be a means for personal and academic growth, “in
terms of working on my own and seeking out my own readings.”
Although Butler’s program does not focus extensively on film, Matt’s
experience didn’t disrupt the progression of his coursework. “All
the classes I took transferred by credit to credit,” he says. “Dr.
Green is very helpful in making it work and accomodating other classes that
might not fit exactly with what the Butler theatre curriculum dictates.”
