In 2006, Vital Voices Global Partnership President Alyse Nelson
connected seven award-winning playwrights with seven women from
its large international network of women leaders from Russia,
Nigeria, Cambodia, Ireland, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Northern Ireland
and Guatemala. Each playwright worked collecting interviews from
extraordinary women and after creating seven monologues that
illuminated the women's inspiring journeys, they worked
collaboratively to make the play, SEVEN which has been translated
into eight languages and seen globally. Butler Theatre presents
SEVEN in a staged reading in collaboration with The Phoenix
Theatre, performed by a company of professionals and Butler
University Theatre students.

the 2012 Spirit and Place Festival.
Shakespeare gave us the enchanted shadow spirits
Puck, Oberon and Titania, the powerful Athenian court, the
rebellious lovers, and the Rude Mechanicals. Bali Dream will
interweave Balinese Wayang Kulit (shadow puppets), Balinese mask
performance, ritual, spectacle, humor and fun - and of course
Shakespeare's text. Bali Dream is the culminating project of 2012

Lunar Revolution 2.0will be collectively devised by an
ensemble of Butler Theatre students through etudes, improvisations,
sampled images, sound, music, and text. We're borrowing some
of the the structure from Schoenberg's 1912 revolutionary
opera, Pierrot Lunaire, with added inspiration and
sourcing from 100 year old events and
revolutionaries from Ionesco to Gil Evans, Studs Terkel and even
Dale Evans… 1912 was a very good year. Having conquered our
most constant companion and dominating celestial influence in 1969,
Lunar Revolution 2.0offers a theatrical exploration of what we
might do with our yearning for change, whether revolutionary or
transcendent. How do we pilot change? How do we
Occupy the Moon?
