This fall, we
welcomed Zan Sawyer-Dailey, Associate Director of the Actors
Theatre of Louisville, as our Butler Theatre Honored Alum. Zan led
a terrific audition workshop for our current students and alums and
spoke eloquently at the JCFA alumni dinner.
As Associate Director at Actors, Ms. Sawyer-Dailey overseas the
operation of the artistic side of Actors Theatre, a theatre that
produces 25 shows annually, has a $9 million budget, 65 full time
staff and over-hire staff that reaches 250. Her long list of
wide-ranging duties includes casting and she sees over 1500
auditions annually. She is the Master Acting Teacher for the

Zan has worked in management, teaching and directing positions
at a host of impressive organizations across the country, including
the Brooklyn Museum, American Conservatory Theatre, the Alley
Theatre, Cornell University, Florida State, Bellarmine University,
and the University of Louisville.
She has her MFA in arts administration from Florida State and
her BA in Theatre Arts and Speech Communication from Butler. It is
no surprise that Zan was on a full academic scholarship during her
undergraduate years at Butler. She regularly made the dean's list,
was a teaching assistant in Lighting Design and Production
Management, and received the Outstanding Student Leader award
during both her junior and senior years.

to claim Zan Sawyer-Dailey as one of our brightest stars. Thank
