Butler’s innovative program of study combines stage experience with core technical skills. Our students create innovative theatre that’s consistently recognized as some of the best in the region. Pushing the limits of conventional theatre, Butler students and faculty even stage on-site performances throughout the community.

Tours abroad and visiting faculty bring a unique international perspective to Butler’s Theatre Department. Theatre is a global art form and our students experience its scope through study abroad opportunities and the annual Butler International Theatre Project.

Each year, the Theatre Department stages between 15 and 20 productions; students have opportunities to write, perform, design, and direct the productions, which are the hot entertainment tickets in Indianapolis. Year after year, our productions win local, national and international awards.
