Diane Timmerman

Diane Timmerman, professor of theatre, received her M.F.A. in
Acting from Indiana University and her B.A. in Theatre and German
from Southern Illinois University. She studied for one year at the
University of Hamburg on a German Academic Exchange Service
Fellowship (DAAD) and for one year at the University of Vienna. Ms.
Timmerman is a Designated Linklater Voice Teacher, one of about 100
worldwide. She teaches a variety of voice and acting courses at
Butler. Ms. Timmerman is an active professional
actor whose favorite credits include Beatrice in Much Ado About
Nothing and Nerissa in Merchant of Venice for the Heartland Actors'
Repertory Theatre; Bernstein in David Mamet's November, the
crack-smoking Agnes in Bug, and Sandra in Beautiful Thing, all at
the Phoenix Theatre; and Beautiful Thing and Spinning Into Butter
at the Human Race Theatre Company. Other credits include Angel
Street at the Indiana Repertory Theatre and numerous roles on
Chicago stages. Diane has appeared in many commercials and films,
including The Package with Gene Hackman. Ms. Timmerman's
books include: Spare Scenes: 60 Skeletal Scenes for Acting and
Directing; 90-Minute Shakespeare: A Midsummer Night's Dream;
90-Minute Shakespeare: Romeo & Juliet. As a director, Ms.
Timmerman focuses on Shakespeare, brand new plays, and voicescapes.
Diane is a two-time recipient of the Creative Renewal Fellowship
from the Arts Council of Indianapolis
