Butler International Theatre Exchange 2005

Internationally recognized actor/director Alessandro Fabrizi will be directing the fourth Butler International Theatre Exchange (BITE) to be held May 16 - 28, 2005.

This years exchange focuses on the techniques employed by Mr. Fabrizi to stage scenes from Torquato Tasso's Aminta, a quintessential Italian pastoral play.

Scenes from the play will be performed in Holcomb Gardens on the campus of Butler University May 27 and 28. The performances are free and open to the public.

Mr. Fabrizi is a renowned actor and theatre director. Among his many achievements are the direction of works of Giovanni Verga and Luigi Pirandello; his collaboration with the rock singer Nada; text, lyrics and direction of Daniel Defoe's The Adventures of Moll Flanders for Festival Benevento Citta Spettacolo (Benevento) and Teatro Flaianco (Rome); Peter Pan (text, lyrics and direction) for Festival I Solisti del Teatro - Giardini dell'Accademia Filarmonica di Roma; director of Virginia Woolf's The Waves (in 9 parts) for Teatro Due, Roma; actor and assistant director Satyricon, Teatro Vascello, Rome. Mr. Fabrizi has also acted in Lorca's Blood Wedding and directed Cyril Tourneur's The Revenger's Tragedy.

When he isn't acting, directing, working in film or translating, Mr. Fabrizi teaches. In addition to working at prestigeous academies in Italy, he is a guest teacher at The School of Performing Arts, Columbia University and the Actor's Center in New York.
