Awards and Accolades
- In 2004, Butler alumnus Marc Szewzyck's
play Settle
Down was selected for the 29th annual Samuel
French Off-Off Broadway Original Short Play Festival.
- In 2003 Butler Theatre was the only undergraduate theatre
program in the nation to be selected by the United States Institute
for Theatre Technology to exhibit scenic and lighting designs at
the Prague Quadrennial.
- In 2003 Blaine Hogan, senior, received the NUVO Newsweekly Cultural
Vision Award for his acting and directing.
- In 2002 Butler Theatre received the NUVO Newsweekly Cultural
Vision Award for its impact on the cultural life of Indianapolis.
- In 2001 Liz Freeman, junior, won the American College Theatre
Festival Region III Undergraduate
Scenic Design award.
- In 2000 Butler Theatre won the Region III ACTF in Milwaukee,
and went on to be chosen as one of only six theatre departments
nationwide to present at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
in Washington, D.C.
- In 1999 Backstage magazine named Butler Theatre one of the nine
most interesting programs in the country, due to our professional
partnership with the Indiana Repertory Theatre.
