Master's In Effective Teaching and Leadership Program
(METL)
Earn a master's degree in a program that is designed to offer
you flexibility, individual choice, and the chance to be part of a
community of learners. The METL program centers around a core
curriculum in which you'll be challenged to engage in research and
reflect on your own learning and leadership. Complementing your
experiences in the core curriculum courses, you'll also be able to
work with your advisor to create a unique plan of study based on
your areas of personal and professional interests. The program
culminates in a thesis project designed in collaboration with METL
faculty. Small class sizes and access to caring and committed
faculty ensure that you receive an individualized experience
alongside fellow educators who share a passion for their craft.
Completion of the METL program will prepare you to continue within
your professional setting, provide leadership in your school and
profession as a whole, or continue your studies at the doctoral
level.
The METL program is based on the College of Education's four
core values: the appreciation of diversity and similarity; the
excitement of teaching, learning, and mentoring; the challenge of
integrated theory, practice, and collaboration; and the strength of
integrity and responsibility. We look for students who share these
values as they begin their work with us and who seek to strengthen
their expression of those values in their teaching and leadership.
