Welcome to the Epsilon Mu chapter of Sigma Nu!
The Epsilon Mu Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity was originally colonized at Butler University in 1926. The chapter has a long history of excellence being recognized both on-campus and internationally. The Epsilon Mu chapter has won three consecutive Rock Chapter Awards (2012, 2010, 2008) and has been honored with many of Butler University’s Greek Excellence Awards including the highest GPA of fraternities 5 of the past 6 semesters.
With all the success the Epsilon Mu chapter has earned, the current brothers still see room for growth. Recently, the chapter reexamined its strategic goals to promote further development and chapter wide success.
Our National Organization
Sigma Nu was born in the turbulent period known as America's reconstruction era. Two war veterans from Arkansas and a younger associate from Missouri founded the Fraternity at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia. At VMI they had been drawn together to oppose the excessive hazing that took place in the “rat” system of that era, but they stayed together because they shared belief that honor should be central in their lives. This includes a strong commitment to anti-hazing policies.
