Pursuit of Excellence
In November of 2000, Sigma Nu's High council set out on a mission to ensure that our national organization remains one of the best in the world. Part of the Strategic Plan adopted by the Fraternity's High Council in November of 2000 was to develop a set of standards for chapter performance. The High Council appointed an Ad Hoc Committee to recommend standards for adoption by the 60th Grand Chapter. In March of 2002, the Ad Hoc Committee on Minimum Standards met in Lexington, Virginia to begin the process of making such recommendations. Their hard work and dedication culminated in developing The Pursuit of Excellence Program.
Six categories of chapter operation were agreed upon for measurement, ensuring that all chapters would be judged on all-encompassing requirements: Membership Development, Chapter Development, Chapter Management, Support Structure, Chapter Governance, and Campus and Community Involvement.
Updated biennially, the Pursuit of Excellence program is ever-changing in order to keep up with an ever-changing world and to ensure that the chapters of Sigma Nu are constantly attaining higher levels of greatness. The Pursuit of Excellence is a part of what makes Sigma Nu one of the best modern fraternities internationally.
Since the inception of the Pursuit of Excellence program in 2003, the Epsilon Mu Chapter has been named among the Top 10 Chapters in 2004, 2005, and 2006. In continuing with our tradition of excellence, we are not only one of the most outstanding fraternity chapters on the Butler campus, but we are also one of the best fraternity chapters in the world.
