Attention, all Block Party participants!
(
and all those interested in learning more about the magazine)

Manuscripts will be holding an interest session on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss submission guidelines, plans for this year's magazine, and upcoming events. Most importantly, we will be handing out applications for this year's editorial staff. The meeting will be held in the Writer's Studio on the third floor of Jordan Hall, room 304. So, tell your friends, enemies, aunts and uncles—the more the merrier. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to e-mail us at manuscripts@butler.edu. We hope to see you all on Wednesday and look forward to seeing your work this year!

Manuscripts works in conjunction with the Coffeehouse Committee and the SGA Program Board to sponsor several events during the school year. Among our most popular is

"Pardon the Intermission,"

which takes place in August during Butler University's Welcome Week. Poets, short story writers, essayists, performance artists, songwriters, and musicians come together to help kick off the start of classes and a new year of the magazine. All are welcome to attend and are encouraged to perform!

*** Our thanks to the Coffeehouse Committee, the SGA Program Board, and Starbucks for helping make this year's "Pardon the Intermission" an incredible success! Also, many thanks to the fabulous musicians that agreed to perform. We couldn't have done it without you! We truly appreciate everyone who came out to share work and show their support.

Be on the lookout for future open mic nights, sponsored by Manuscripts and the Coffeehouse Committee. All are invited to read, play, or simply listen as we help support our university's writing community.
